“Horses and Horsepower” For the first time in Louisville, over 200 of the rarest, most elegant and expensive automobiles in the country will be at Churchill Downs infield on Saturday October 4 and Sunday, October 5, 2008. Worth millions of dollars and like their four-legged counterparts, these cars are coming from about 25 states and have their own handlers to ensure they are properly transported, displayed and cared for. The cars in Concours d’Elegance (translated as “competition of elegance”) are truly rolling works of art, often taking years to restore to original showroom condition. With proceeds benefiting Brooklawn Child and Family Services, the events include: Saturday, October 4 Pre-Show Reception in Churchill Downs paddock.Live auction and dinner in Millionaire’s Row$175 plate Sunday, October 5 Fashion Show to feature local boutiques matched up with cars, which will be driven onto the stage to model both the car and the clothes.Champagne Celebration in Winners Circle - the first time anything other than Kentucky Derby winners allowed in this area.‘Display Only’ class for unique cars that are not Concours quality; car clubs, etc.Vendors Village featuring nationally recognized car artists, food, beverages.
